Day 41

Hope

Our hope is in God’s power to bring about what God has promised. Our hope is “in the victory of justice”, not by worldly power but by the breath of God and the accompaniment of the Spirit.
Where have you experienced God grasping you by the hand, forming you, sending you out?
What experiences sustain your hope in God?

Today’s Prayer

Preparation: Begin by stilling; then dedicating the time of prayer to God and asking God that all you think, feel and imagine are for the glory of God.

Gift:  Ask for what you desire.  Suggestion: To pray for renewed hope.

Setting: A Scripture reading to ponder – Lectio Divina.

Thus says God, the LORD,
who created the heavens and stretched them out,
who spreads out the earth with its crops,
Who gives breath to its people
and spirit to those who walk on it:
I, the LORD, have called you for the victory of justice,
I have grasped you by the hand;
I formed you, and set you
as a covenant of the people,
a light for the nations,
To open the eyes of the blind,
to bring out prisoners from confinement,
and from the dungeon, those who live in darkness.

Conversation: Talk to Jesus in your own words as a friend

Final Prayer: End with a formal prayer such as the Lord’s Prayer/Our Father.

Today’s Music

Truro Cathedral Choir: Soul of my Saviour

A Blackbird Sings – Jenny Ross

Over by the myrtle bush
The blackbird sings
All whoops and whistles and joy
Flung far into the morning air
And when the song returns to her unheard
She sings again – lighting up the bluebird sky
And when the sky hands back her gift
She fills her lungs and cries hallelujah
The sound soaring effortlessly and alone to the
Black star-studded billows of night
A single flute piercing the velvet air
And someone down below is listening
And throws a moonbeam
As the young girl holding her mother’s hand
Listens to the sound of hope
Piercing her own heart
