Day 43

Hope

Scripture is a source of hope, as it allows us to experience the stories of God’s trustworthiness throughout history. The Feast of Passover remembers God’s covenant with his people. We prepare today to partake in the paschal mystery: the new covenant. What does covenant mean to you ?

Today’s Prayer

Preparation: Begin by stilling; then dedicating the time of prayer to God and asking God that all you think, feel and imagine are for the glory of God.

Gift:  Ask for what you desire.  Suggestion: To prepare our hearts and spirits for the renewed hope the Passion and Resurrection of Jesus brings.

Setting: A Scripture reading to ponder -Imaginative Contemplation.

On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread,
the disciples approached Jesus and said,
“Where do you want us to prepare
for you to eat the Passover?”
He said,
“Go into the city to a certain man and tell him,
‘The teacher says, “My appointed time draws near;
in your house I shall celebrate the Passover with my disciples.””‘
The disciples then did as Jesus had ordered,
and prepared the Passover.

Conversation: Talk to Jesus in your own words as a friend

Final Prayer: End with a formal prayer such as the Lord’s Prayer/Our Father.

Today’s Music

Speak Oh Lord – sung by Keith and Kristyn Getty, written by Stuart Townsend and Keith Getty

Uphill – Christian Rossetti

Does the road wind uphill all the way?
   Yes, to the very end.
Will the day’s journey take the whole long day?
From morn to night, my friend.
But is there for the night a resting-place?

A roof for when the slow, dark hours begin.
May not the darkness hide it from my face?
   You cannot miss that inn
Shall I meet other wayfarers at night?
   Those who have gone before.
Then must I knock, or call when just in sight?
They will not keep you waiting at that door.
Shall I find comfort, travel-sore and weak?
Of labour you shall find the sum.
Will there be beds for me and all who seek?
Yes, beds for all who come.
