Today’s Scripture

Ps 72(71): 1-2. 3-4b. 7-8. 17. ± cf. 7 ESV

Psalm 72 ESV

In his days shall justice flourish, and great peace for ever.

O God, give your judgement to the king,
to a king’s son your justice,
that he may judge your people in justice,
and your poor in right judgement.
In his days shall justice flourish, and great peace for ever.
May the mountains bring forth peace for the people,
and the hills bear peace in uprightness.
May he defend the poor of the people,
and save the children of the needy.
In his days shall justice flourish, and great peace for ever.
In his days justice shall flourish,
and great peace till the moon is no more.
He shall rule from sea to sea,
from the River to the bounds of the earth.
In his days shall justice flourish, and great peace for ever.
May his name endure for ever,
his name continue like the sun.
Every tribe shall be blest in him,
all nations shall call him blessed.
In his days shall justice flourish, and great peace for ever.

Reflection

We see hope in the coming of Jesus for a flourishing of justice and a fullness of peace. We gather in a stable around a vulnerable new baby. We invited to follow Jesus, poor and humble. What does that mean for you today?
How are we called to promote the flourishing of justice?
