Jesus reaches out to those in need: The Chronic Sick
The woman, with shy confidence barely touches Jesus.
He feels the power leaving him to cure her.
Interesting it is her faith tapping his power, his energy.
Its not by his will that she is healed, but by her faith.
A woman with a condition like this would have been regarded in her society as ‘unclean’ and not to be mixed with. Jesus’ public conversation and acknowledgement of her healing brings her back into the community of the ‘clean’ believers.
Do we need to touch the hem of Jesus’ garment to heal a wound or can we access the energy of God to heal others, maybe just by loving them.
Today’s Prayer
Preparation: Begin by stilling; then dedicating the time of prayer to God and asking God that all you think, feel and imagine are for the glory of God.
Gift: Ask for what you desire. Suggestion: To get in touch with what needs healing in my life, or notice where I can help heal others.
Setting: Read the passage below, imagine yourself there, who are you?
Luke 8:43-48 HCSB
While He was going, the crowds were nearly crushing Him.
A woman suffering from bleeding for 12 years,
who had spent all she had on doctors yet could not be healed by any,
approached from behind and touched the tassel of His robe.
Instantly her bleeding stopped.
“Who touched Me?” Jesus asked.
When they all denied it, Peter said,
“Master, the crowds are hemming You in and pressing against You.”
“Someone did touch Me,” said Jesus.
“I know that power has gone out from Me.”
When the woman saw that she was discovered,
she came trembling and fell down before Him.
In the presence of all the people,
she declared the reason she had touched Him and how she was instantly cured.
“Daughter,” He said to her, “your faith has made you well.
Go in peace.”
Conversation: You may want to talk to Jesus about this healing or any ‘healing’ you would like.
Final Prayer: End with a formal prayer such as the Lord’s Prayer/Our Father.
