Reflection
In Jesus’ day sickness was seen as a punishment from God for sins.
Jesus breaks this link. He forgives the sins, but leaves the man paralysed.
When the Pharisees complain about his authority to forgive sins, he performs the miracle we imagine he would have anyway and cures the paralysis.
The multitude, who see things as they are, marvel and glorify God.
What sort of cure may I need to ask for from Jesus?
Can I be sure that I see the world as ‘The multitude’ saw it, rather than the vision of the Pharisees?

Scripture
Matthew 9:1-8 WEB
Jesus entered into a boat and crossed over, and came into his own city.
Behold, they brought to him a man who was paralyzed, lying on a bed.
Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, “Son, cheer up! Your sins are forgiven you.”
Behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, “This man blasphemes.”
Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts?
For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven;’ or to say, ‘Get up, and walk’?
But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins—”
then he said to the paralytic, “Get up, and take up your mat, and go to your house.”
He arose and departed to his house.
But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled and glorified God,
who had given such authority to men.
Conversation: Talk to Jesus in your own words as a friend
Final Prayer: End with a formal prayer such as the Lord’s Prayer/Our Father.
